Lisa has extensive experience working with trauma survivors, and has received specialty training in evidence based treatments for post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorders, and insomnia. She has almost 20 years of experience working with trauma survivors from a background in victim advocacy, and for the last 8 years as a psychologist. During those 8 years, she has worked in a PTSD specialty clinic at the DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center as well as in private practice. She has received training in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for insomnia (CBT-i).
Lisa has made a commitment to continuous learning and growth in culturally competent therapy that integrates evidence based practice as a a collaborative and individualized approach with each client, tailoring effective treatments to the needs of those she works with. She aims to work with clients to co-create a holistic plan for therapy that honors an individual's strengths, values, identities, and cultural background. Lisa also engages in advocacy actions with community partner organizations that promote access to resources for trauma survivors and trauma prevention.
