HOW DOES TELEHEALTH THERAPY WORK?

All of our providers have been using telehealth for years and are comfortable and familiar with the technology. The providers at TREC DC use Simple Practice, a HIPAA-compliant platform that ensures that your information stays confidential. It is important to ensure that you have a private space to do our therapy sessions with a strong, secure internet connection. Sessions can be accessed on a desktop, laptop, or smart phone device. For more information, Simple Practice provides this guide to telehealth.

HOW DOES TREC MAINTAIN MY PRIVACY?

All personal identifying information (PII) is always stored in a manner compliant with HIPAA regulations and communication is typically conducted via our HIPAA compliant electronic medical record and communication system, Simple Practice. For those clients interested in an increased level of security of their information (e.g. due to employment needs or personal preference), we offer AES256 encryption for client data (current gold standard encryption) and end-to-end encryption communication platforms (Signal and Jitsi Meet). TREC providers maintain general practice standards that include two-factor authentication for all programs and devices that access PII and engage in regular consultation about security, privacy, and related ethical issues.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

Please review our the clinician bios on the â€‹team page to determine if a particular provider feels like the right fit for you. You can then Contact Us to inquire about availability. If a clinician does not currently have availability, we will work with you to provide appropriate referrals. You will be sent information about our practice and asked to complete a brief questionnaire to help us better understand your needs. We can then schedule you for a brief phone consultation with a member of the team. During this consultation, the clinician will ask you about what brings you to therapy and you can ask any questions you might have. Your clinician can speak about next steps, including paperwork, fees, and logistics during the initial phone consultation.

HOW MUCH DOES THERAPY COST?

The fee for a individual sessions (either 50 or 80 min sessions) ranges depending on provider. Please submit a contact request if you are interested in learning more about our prices. Group sessions range depending on the type of group. Most groups last approximately 90 mins. Payment is due at the time of the session. We do offer low  fee services for situations where cost is a barrier to treatment. These low fee services are limited, but please contact us to discuss availability.

DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?

Most of our clinicians do not take insurance. Please check our team page to see if a clinician takes your insurance. Most insurance companies will cover a large part of the cost of "out-of-network" provider services. We can provide you with monthly documentation of services provided for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. We strongly recommend contacting your insurance company prior to beginning therapy to investigate their out-of-network coverage. These are some questions to help guide a conversation with your insurance company.

WHAT ABOUT CONFIDENTIALITY?

TREC DC takes client confidentiality very seriously. All of your information will remain confidential with very few safety and legal exceptions that will be clearly discussed in your first session. All therapy notes, credit card information, and client information is stored in our HIPPA-compliant software, Simple Practice. You may request for specific information to be shared with certain parties by completing and signing a release of information form for your clinician.

DO YOU PRESCRIBE MEDICATION?

Currently TREC DC does not have medication prescribers on staff. However, if you are interested in a medication evaluation, we can provide you with referrals for psychiatrists or prescribers in the area who have experience with trauma-informed care. In those cases we would coordinate your care with them in order to ensure you receive the most supportive and responsive care.

DO YOU PROVIDE PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING OR EVALUATIONS?

A number of our providers are skilled at diagnostic clarification and can provide brief evaluations to help you understand your diagnosis. We do not currently offer more comprehensive psychological testing. If you require more extensive testing, such as a neuropsychological exam, we can provide referrals for psychological testing and will collaborate and coordinate care with those professionals.
