Pronouns: she/her/hers

Licensed in DC and MD

Out-of-network provider

Choosing to seek out therapy and finding the right therapist can be hard work. Cara hopes to make the process around therapy a little bit easier with a collaborative, transparent approach. She believes that every individual is the expert on their own lives and experiences, and that healing best occurs when an individual is seen as a whole person. Cara works from a strengths-based, culturally sensitive perspective, with consideration of cultural, historical, societal, and gender-related issues that impact trauma. Cara seeks to create a non-judgmental, safe space to explore and process what is bringing you to therapy.

Cara has 10 years of experience working with individuals of all ages who have experienced trauma and has provided individual and group therapy in a variety of settings (community mental health, hospitals, schools, and non-profit agencies). Cara has specialized training in developmental trauma, sexual trauma, complex grief, and interpersonal violence. Cara has certifications in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma Focused - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and sand tray.

Throughout your time in therapy, Cara welcomes feedback and questions about your work together, as she understands that there are already not enough hours in the day in addition to making time for therapy. She welcomes the opportunity to connect for a brief consultation to see if she is a good fit for your healing journey.
